It
has been 20 years since the aliens were left stranded with their
spaceship hovering over JHB. Tension has been growing due to
the fact that humans are unable to make use of the aliens weaponry as
alien DNA is needed and the public are growing tired of dealing and
paying for the aliens. The aliens are kept in a secured refugee area
called District 9 but the public’s patience with the
situation is running out. Control of the aliens is contracted out to
MNU(Multi-National United) to move them far out of
Johannesburg into another secured area. Whilst issuing moving notices
to the aliens MNU operative Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley)
contracts a virus that begins altering his DNA. As the only human-alien
hybrid able to operate the alien weaponry he soon becomes the most
sought after person as he is the key to MNU making massive profits from
their technology. District 9 is the only place Wikus can now seek
refuge if he wants to live. |
