An exhilarating thrill-ride, Drive is completely patient in its story delivery as it offers a perfect balance of high octane action, drama and an enthralling story that will definitely be putting director Nicolas Winding Refn on the map. Drive is a film unlike any other. The film is a throwback, to true classic car-chase films like Bullet and Point Blank, and it’s quickly garnering cult status as one of the best car-chase films ever made. Refn, has managed to provide a wonderful blend of his story telling ability, with a sheer artistry in his camera work. The opening sequence in Drive is testament of this. We are introduced to Driver (Ryan Gosling), as he gets ready to be a getaway driver for some thugs, this first scene will immediately suck you into the film as we get to see the entire get away through the perspective of Driver, an ingenious move by Refn and makes for one hell of a sequence. Hit the jump for more Death by UJ stampede
Picture courtesy of The New Age Eyewitness News is reporting that there has been on death in a stampede at the University of Johannesburg, Professor Marie Muller confirmed this morning that the victim was not a student but rather a mother of a prospective student. Thousands of late applicants and registrants have been clamouring at the gates of all four UJ campuses with UJ security doing their best to shepard the student to and from registration offices safely. However patience amongst the crowds wore thin as frustration set in over the 2 day period which resulted in the stampede. In addition to the death of the victim, numerous others sustained injuries in the maelstrom of angry students and parents alike. Police and security personnel have since attempted to contain the chaos through the implementation of temporary barricades to channel students safely. We urge prospective students and registrants to remain calm and exercise patience in order to avert a repeat of this tragedy. An alleged picture of of Blue Ivy Carter via News World Its true, on January 7th of this year, the Hip Hop power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce gave birth to a baby-girl named "Blue Ivy Carter" (sounds like a bad rash, we know), apparently named after Beyonce's favourite number IV (not triple 6?) and Jay-Z's Blue Album. The couple's close friend, actress Gwyneth Paltrow who has a kid called "Apple" (I smell a trend), posted on Twitter: "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already" whilst Beyonce's competition best friend, Rihanna tweeted "Welcome to the world princess Carter!" As for the kid's looks, well Solange Knowles was quoted as saying, ""The most beautiful girl in the world", we beg to differ...

Billboard magazine has crowned Lil Wayne as the top R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the year. His album Tha Carter IV debuted at #1, selling nearly a million copies in just one week alone before going on to nab double platinum status are just a few of the reasons why the Young Money CEO has had an incredible year. In other news, whilst on tour in South Africa it seems Weezy alledgedly got into an altercation with local rapper Young Nucho at Hush nightclub in Sandton. There has been no confirmation from either camp however it is reported by Mediatakeout that Lil Wayne laid some baby-powdered slaps to the locals' face.
